It depicted the city of Oxford. At a huge table, I had drawn the enlarged site plan of the city on a large sketch paper with a thick pencil. With the special trees I chose from every country I lived in and visited from time to time, we were connected to each other and together we became a giant tree. This huge Oxford tree was a stepping stone between the countries and borders where life changed, and between the brother trees that followed.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>2- <\/b><b>At\u00f6lyemiz: Bir Duvar, Bir Kolon ve Bir Masa: <\/b>Bizim mek\u00e2n\u0131m\u0131z steril, p\u0131r\u0131l p\u0131r\u0131l olmamal\u0131yd\u0131. Sanki sonunda kimbilir ne hale evrilecek at\u00f6lyemizin ta\u015flar\u0131 fark\u0131nda olmadan d\u00f6\u015fenmeye ba\u015flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2- Our Atelier: A Wall, A Column and A Table: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our space should not be sterile and sparkling clean. It should be a place we all felt connected to, and our work should envelop us. The idea of exhibiting the best pieces selected during the process was set aside, giving way to the idea of creating corners that showed our touches, our truths, and our mistakes. It was as if the stones of our workshop, unaware of what form it would eventually take, had begun to be laid.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>3 &#8211;\u00a0<\/b><b>Karyatidler: <\/b>Seppo geldi\u011finde 18. \u0130stanbul Bienali vard\u0131. \u00d6\u011frenci arkada\u015flarla birlikte baz\u0131 sergilere gitmi\u015ftik. Kentteki duru\u015fumuz, nerede oldu\u011fumuz bu anl\u0131k ve spontane ikili performans\u0131m\u0131z ile hayat bulmu\u015ftu.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3- Caryatids: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When Seppo arrived, the 18th Istanbul Biennial was taking place. We had gone to see some exhibitions with our student friends. The last one was at Meclisi Mebusan 35. The ceiling next to the gallery overlooking the exhibition sections on the inside of the foyer was quite low. Seppo and I were standing side by side. While chatting about something, as if by mutual agreement, we both raised our hands and began to carry the floor above us, the floors above that, even the building itself, on our fingertips. Our stance in the city, where we were, had come to life with this spontaneous, momentary, dual performance.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>4- <\/b><b>Arkada\u015f\u0131m Ahtapot: <\/b>Y\u0131llar \u00f6nce ayn\u0131 ba\u015fl\u0131kla ve yukar\u0131daki al\u0131nt\u0131n\u0131n da i\u00e7inde oldu\u011fu makalesi yazd\u0131\u011f\u0131m \u201cArkada\u015f\u0131m Ahtapot\u201d Be\u015fikta\u015f\u2019a da geldi&#8230; Bu \u00e7ar\u015f\u0131 tam anlam\u0131yla aram\u0131zda tart\u0131\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z gibi tam bir ahtopota benziyordu. \u00dcstelik ahtapot da \u00e7ok \u00f6zel ve mimarl\u0131k, sanat ve ya\u015fam ad\u0131na kendisinden \u00e7ok \u00f6\u011frenilebilecek bir yarat\u0131kt\u0131. Kendisi hep birlikte izledi\u011fimiz \u201c\u00d6\u011fretmenim Ahtapot\u201d filmi ve ard\u0131ndan yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z sohbetler ve \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalarla \u201cS\u0131n\u0131rlar\u201d At\u00f6lyesi\u2019nin \u00e7ok \u00f6nemli bir akt\u00f6r\u00fc oldu.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4- My Friend Octopus: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Years ago, my article titled \u2018My Friend the Octopus,\u2019 which included the above quote, also came to Be\u015fikta\u015f&#8230; This market was exactly like an octopus, just as<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">we had discussed among ourselves. Moreover, the octopus was a very special creature from which much could be learned in terms of architecture, art, and life. K\u0131rm\u0131z\u0131 da bu antik kente sanki \u00e7ok yak\u0131\u015f\u0131yordu. \u00c7izgilerimi o kolonlar\u0131n \u00fczerine bir ba\u015ftan bir ba\u015fa asmak istedim. O eski d\u00f6nemleri, agorada dola\u015fanlar\u0131, bu k\u0131rm\u0131z\u0131lara bakarak sohbet edenleri, oradaki g\u00fcnl\u00fck hayat\u0131 akl\u0131mdan ge\u00e7irdim. Kolonlar\u0131n aras\u0131nda a\u015fa\u011f\u0131 sarkan k\u0131pk\u0131rm\u0131z\u0131 \u00e7izgiler benim Nysa\u2019m olmu\u015ftu.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6- Nysa Red: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hellenistic-period agora and the rows of twin marble columns lining it made a powerful impression amidst all that marble. Red seemed to suit this ancient city perfectly. I wanted to drape my lines from top to bottom over those columns. I imagined those ancient times, the people wandering the agora, chatting while gazing at the red, the daily life there. The bright red lines hanging down between the columns had become my Nysa.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>7 &#8211;\u00a0<\/b><b>\u00d6\u011frenciler ile: \u201cArkada\u015fl\u0131k \u00c7emberi\u201d: <\/b>R\u00fcya gibi bir yerdi Gemlik. Hi\u00e7 unutamad\u0131\u011f\u0131m batan g\u00fcne\u015f ise \u00e7ocuk kafam\u0131zda sanki dev bir umuttu. \u00c7o\u011fu zaman b\u00fcy\u00fck t\u00f6renlerle, inan\u0131lmaz seramonilerle g\u00fcle oynaya her \u015feyi arkada b\u0131rakarak batard\u0131. Her bat\u0131\u015f\u0131n ard\u0131ndan da ayd\u0131nl\u0131k g\u00fcnlerin s\u0131ralan\u0131r dururdu.\u00a0 Oradaki y\u0131llardan sonra s\u0131raya di\u011fer kentler, \u00fclkeler, okullar, mimarl\u0131k, sanat ve beni adeta in\u015fa eden akademisyenlik ile her \u00fclkeden \u00f6\u011frenciler girdi ve adeta bir \u00e7ember olu\u015ftu y\u0131llar i\u00e7inde, b\u00fcy\u00fcye b\u00fcy\u00fcye.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7- With Students: \u201cFriendship Circle\u201d: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gemlik was a dreamlike place. The sunset, which I can never forget, was like a giant hope in our childish minds. Most of the time, it would set with great ceremonies, incredible celebrations, leaving everything behind with laughter and joy. And after each sunset, bright days would follow. After those years there, other cities, countries, schools, architecture, art, and academia, which shaped me, came into the picture, along with students from every country, forming a circle over the years, growing and growing.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>8 &#8211;\u00a0<\/b><b>S\u0131n\u0131rlar ve Bitmemi\u015flik: Ersilia ile Be\u015fikta\u015f Aras\u0131: <\/b>AURA\u2019daki at\u00f6lye \u00f6ncesinde, \u00e7o\u011fu kez Ortodoks Kilisesi\u2019nin kar\u015f\u0131s\u0131ndaki Nero\u2019nun arka bah\u00e7esinde kahve i\u00e7ip g\u00fcne ba\u015flamak \u00e7ok \u00f6nemliydi. \u00c7ar\u015f\u0131 yolunda bal\u0131k\u00e7\u0131lar\u0131n \u00f6tesinde, d\u00f6rt yol a\u011fz\u0131ndaki Kartal heykelini uzaktan g\u00f6rmek de, at\u00f6lye bitince, \u00e7o\u011fu zaman oldu\u011fu gibi, k\u00f6y i\u00e7indeki s\u00fcrpriz dolu mekanlar\u0131 ke\u015ffetmek de. Be\u015fikta\u015f \u00c7ar\u015f\u0131s\u0131&#8217;n\u0131n kalbinde ya\u015famak \u00e7ok \u00f6zel oldu. Ma\u00e7 g\u00fcnleri buralar\u0131 dolduran kalabal\u0131\u011f\u0131n sesleri aras\u0131nda trib\u00fcnlere tempo tutan o efsane \u201c\u00c7ar\u015f\u0131 her\u015feye kar\u015f\u0131\u201d slogan\u0131n\u0131 hat\u0131rlay\u0131p g\u00fcl\u00fcmsedim.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8- Boundaries and Incompleteness: Between Ersilia and Be\u015fikta\u015f<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting the day with coffee in Nero\u2019s backyard opposite the Orthodox Church before the workshop at AURA was very important. On the way to the market, beyond the fishermen, seeing the Eagle statue at the crossroads from afar, and after the workshop, as was often the case, discovering the surprise-filled places within the village&#8230; Living in the heart of Be\u015fikta\u015f Market was very unique.
