Cumartesi Aurası: Seppo Salminen & Hüseyin Yanar “Art & Architecture”
İstanbul Mimarlık ve Şehircilik Araştırmaları Akademisi – AURA İstanbul tarafından, 2017 yılından itibaren düzenli olarak organize edilen disiplinlerarası konferans dizisi, Cumartesi Aurası; Finlandiyalı sanatçı Seppo Salminen ve mimar, yazar Hüseyin Yanar’ı ağırlıyor.
“Sanat ve Mimarlık: Ayasofya, Beden, Materyal, Hafıza” başlıklı dijital konferans, 19 Kasım Cumartesi günü saat 15.00’da Zoom platformunda düzenlenecek.

“AURA on Saturday” series will host international artist Seppo Salminen and architect, writer Hüseyin Yanar on November 19.
The talk between two professionals will focus on “Art and Architecture: Hagia Sophia, Body, Materials, Memory”.
Sponsored by Stoneline, the conference will be held in English, and simultaneous Turkish translation will be provided. Attendance is free of charge with registration at Eventbrite. Zoom session link will be sent to the participants via e-mail.
Seppo Salminen (Born in 1956 Hämeenlinna) lives and works in Helsinki. Since his first solo exhibition at Vanhan Galleria in 1983, Seppo Salminen’s practise has combined sculpture, installation, performances, videos and photos. His works have been exhibited both in Finland and internationally. Hämeenlinna Art Museum organized a retrospective exhibition of Salminen’s works in 2008 and they are included in several collections, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma among others. In 2015, he received the Finnish Art Association’s Art Book of the Year-award for the book Moments of Seeing.
In addition to his artistic practise, Seppo Salminen worked as a professor of Time and Space Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki 1998-2011. In 2021 he was awarded the national supplementary artist pension in 2021.

Hüseyin Yanar is learner and mentor as an architect, academic and author between arts and architectures. He graduated with high honors from Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (MSGSÜ) where he thought as an Assistant Professor. He completed an MPhil and a Ph.D. Theses on ‘Rhythm’ in Architecture. His journey at Oxford Brookes University started with his first thesis where he spent five years of his career directing also architectural design studios and giving lectures. Later, followed his Finland experience where he joined the University of Aalto, Tampere, and Helsinki Fine Arts Academy mentoring many Art and Architecture students. In 2013-14, he was invited to Busan Dong Eui University of South Korea as an Associate Professor.
Yanar has numerous awards, jury memberships, talks, exhibitions, articles, and constructed & designed projects by his studio Orpheus North. His first book, ‘Muotokuvia’ (Portraits) which has an introductory from Juhani Pallasmaa, was published in 2011 in Finland and got one of the prizes of “Most Beautiful Finnish Books 2011” attracted lots of interest. His second book ‘A Kingdom of Architecture’ is in the publishing stage now. After Korea, he has been teaching and coordinating experimental design studios of Urban Planning at the Faculty of Built Environment, Tampere University, Finland.

AURA on Saturdays is an interdisciplinary conference series within the certification program of the Istanbul Architecture and Urbanism Research Academy – AURA Istanbul. It aims to create an environment of discussion, gathering and exploration in architecture, urbanism, art, technology, literature and philosophy.
