Communıty-led development: Vacancy needs a communıty
“Vacant buildings and sites have economic and ecological impact on our settlements. But not only the decay or the underuse of resources is the problem. They also leave holes in our communities. Bottom initiatives play a great role in vitalising empty spaces and filling them with life. We are supporting and initiating since over a decade projects with communities. From coming up with ideas for empty spaces, we study how they can be funded and organised. We are advocating for the communitys’ rights to be recognised as a partner for revitalisation projects. The lecture will outline the development challenges facing vacancy and the role of experts in designing the process of sustainable revitalisation.”
